When the team at Workplace Interiors Co took on the fit out of their own new warehouse office, they knew exactly what they wanted – a functional, collaborative workspace that felt like a natural extension of their brand.

We were brought in as the flooring team to help define that space from the ground up. Working alongside their commercial design and project leads, we supplied and installed warehouse flooring that supported the office layout, reflected the industrial design scheme and stood up to the day-to-day demands of a hybrid workspace.

The Challenge: Industrial Office Flooring

Designing an office inside a working warehouse brings its own set of challenges. The flooring needed to help shape the space and support different workstyles. With open-plan zones, no physical partitions and a strong industrial aesthetic, it was down to the layout and finishes – like the flooring – to guide movement and set the tone.

We needed to:

• Ensure long-term durability, especially with crossover between warehouse and office use
• Define walkways, breakout areas and desk zones without building walls
• Maintain visual flow while supporting acoustic performance
• Choose materials that matched the industrial design but were warm and comfortable underfoot

The Solution: Flooring That Works Across Every Zone

Delivering flooring for a hybrid warehouse-office space meant getting practical. Every part of the floor had a job to do. We worked closely with the wider design team to make sure the flooring looked right and performed in each specific area.

Carpet Tiles for Comfort, Acoustics and Zoning

For the main open-plan office, we installed hard-wearing commercial carpet tiles. These were the perfect choice for a space that needed to stay smart and quiet, even with people moving between the warehouse and desks all day. The tiles offered a softer, more comfortable surface underfoot, helping to warm up the industrial feel while also improving acoustic comfort in a large, open space.

We used tonal changes and layout patterns to define different work zones – from walkways to desking and breakout spaces – without needing to add partitions. This helped guide movement and gave the layout a clear structure, while still keeping things flexible.

Vinyl Flooring in the Kitchen

In the kitchen area, we switched to a durable safety vinyl. It’s the right choice for a high-traffic space where spills, cleaning and wear are more frequent. Vinyl gives a sleek, easy-to-clean surface that can handle everything from lunchtime traffic to the occasional coffee mishap without compromising on the overall design scheme.

This project shows how smart flooring choices can completely shape how a workspace functions, especially when you’re working with an unconventional building like a warehouse. The mix of carpet tiles and vinyl helped define zones, improve comfort, manage sound and simplify upkeep while supporting the bold, industrial style.
